October Focus – Walking & Spooky Balance

National Walk to School Day - On October 8th, families can celebrate by choosing to walk or bike to school. This is a reminder that even small steps make a big difference!

Walking or biking to school, boosts energy, strengthens muscles, and helps kids focus better in class! If walking the full way isn’t an option, try a “park and walk” by parking a few blocks away and walking the rest together. It’s an easy, healthy tradition to keep going all month long!
Later in October, excitement builds with Halloween (and plenty of candy). Our eagles can enjoy their treats while learning balance - Instead of eating it all at once, encourage them to choose a few favorites each day. Try mixing in fun, healthy “spooky” snacks - like banana ghosts or apple slice monster mouths to keep things festive and nutritious!
Family Challenge: Celebrate Walk to School Day as a family and then keep the fun going with one “Walk Day” each week in October. On Halloween night, make one healthy, spooky snack together before trick-or-treating!
